Barr Olumuyiwa Adu, a Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State has disclosed that his next political ambition ahead of the 2024 Governorship Election in the state would be determined by his people.
He made this disclosure during an interactive session with the Federated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ondo state Council held at the First Molac Hotel in Akure, Ondo State Capital.
Adu Cubana as popularly called by teeming supporters said his foray into active politics was through a divine inspiration of God to lead his people out of the political Egypt of Ondo State.
His words: “It is not me that will determine whether I am contesting any elective position ahead of 2024 Election in the state or not but my people will determine my next political moves”.
The Akure born Philanthropist added that he is not over ambitious to occupy or contest in the forthcoming governorship Poll in the State but ready to serve whenever he is call upon by his people.
Barr Adu reiterated the need for any politician vying for elective position to seek the face and guidance of God, saying politics is not a tea party for political neophyte.
He revealed that his primary reason of joining politics and People’s Democratic Party at a particular period is to work for the people who have been neglected by the political class, saying once he discovered that people of likesmmind were not in the opposition party, he left for the ruling All Progressive Congress where his dream of touching the lives of his people could be materialized.
” l left People’s Democratic Party not because I am overambitious but because of lack of cohesion, love and unity between the leadership and members of the party and in this kind of environment, there’s no way my vision and mission for my people could be achieved”.
He stated further that inspite of his total loyalty to his party, the people of the state will continue to come first in all his dealings and also continue to support progressive Politics that is People’s oriented.
While advocating for Electoral Reform in the country, Adu said the menace of Money Bags and Yahoo Boys in politics will continue if the system that encourages it doesn’t stop malfunctioning.
” Yahoo-Yahoo will only stop in Nigeria provided we have good government in place where visionary leaders take charge the helms of affairs of the country; our system encourages all these social vices that are slowing down development of the country”.
He stressed that for equity and justice, the Southern Senatorial District should produce the next governor of Ondo State unless the Party do otherwise saying that is only way a man from the Central Senatorial District could be on the ballot.
He charged the electorates to always consider experience, values, integrity and capacity first when voting rather than going for Moneybags who have nothing to offer.
” We are starting our aggressive campaign soon in the three Local Governments of Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore where people would be sensitized on who to vote for, why they must vote and participate in the electoral process among others”.
