The Chief Executive Officer of Otiyeke Universal Security, Mr Adams Abuh has stated that, the inability of Nigeria government at all levels to overcome insecurity challenges facing the country was due to lack of political will to take necessary steps required of a responsible government.
He made this disclosure while delivering lecture at the two days delegate conference of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) held at Impact International College in Akure, Ondo State.
Mr Abuh, a retired Deputy Director of DSS said security education should be encouraged in all the schools where expert will enlighten both the teachers and students on security matters and security tips for safety.
While proffering solutions, he said for Nigeria to come out of the security challenges, the government must have political will to deal with situations head long, brought perpetrators to book without being sentimental of their religion or tribal affiliation.
He also suggested that, zero tolerance to corruption must be encouraged among the country’s political class, adding that money budgeted for security are put into good use.
” Aside political will and zero tolerance to corruption, government must provide employment for teeming unemployed youths who have tendencies to get involved in crime. What is Nigeria government doing to address unemployment? Any country that is not manufacturing cannot solve unemployment problem”.
He enjoined Nigerians government to begin to work toward reviving moribund industries in the country and providing template that will give the youths opportunities in entrepreneurship, saying otherwise, criminality will continue to soar high in the country.
Mr Abuh tasked the government to embark on recruitment of able bodies into the security architecture of the country, noting that adequate man power is require if Nigeria is serious about winning the war against insurgents. How often is Nigeria government recruiting into Army, Police, and other security agencies. These people need to be motivated and make their welfare a topmost priority”.
According to him, ” government must stand up to be sincered to the citizenry; ensure justice prevail and prosecution of criminal suspects arrested to serve as deterrent to others”.
He urged every community to form vigilante security network within their environment to protect lives and property of its people.
He advised state and region forming security network to provide logistics, funds, training that will enable efficiency. ” Amotekun security outfit was formed in South West; are they adequately equipped and trained to face the challenges and daunting task ahead of them?
