A former commissioner and All Progressive Congress Stalwart in Ondo State, Barrister Kazeem Olarenwaju has berated some leaders of Afenifere working against the interest of Yoruba ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election.

It could be recalled that, some leaders of the Yoruba Social Cultural Group has thrown their weight behind one of the presidential candidates from the East as against Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu who hailed from the South West region of the country.

Speaking at a meeting organized by the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition For Good Governance (ATSCGG), the Ikare born politician condemned in totality the stands of the Afenifere leaders who abandon the interest of the Yoruba to pitched tent with candidate from another region.

According to him, ” 2023 is beyond Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu; the interest of Yoruba must be protected by all and sundry. This is our time to produce the next president of Nigeria. We must all shun personal animosity toward the Asiwaju Tinubu and begin to work towards his victory in the forthcoming election”.

He charged various Tinubu Interest Groups to begin sensitisation of the electorates across every length and breath of Nigeria, telling them why Asiwaju Tinubu is the best among other presidential candidates.

Speaking in the same vein, Ambassador Olusola Iji, the coordinator of Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition For Good Governance (ATSCGG) on South West said Barrister Kazeem comments represent the feeling of the majority of the Yoruba people, saying Tinubu is the best candidate to succeed President Buhari in 2023.

He said that,it is a misgiving for some leaders of Afenifere to leave Tinubu and support another region, saying they can’t undermine Yoruba race with their utterances.

” We respect their age and contributions but they should not take Yoruba people for a ride; Tinubu is our son and common sense dictates that all Yoruba people should support his aspiration which will no doubt bring more gains to our region.

He described Tinubu as a detribalise Nigeria that will unite Nigeria irrespective of religion and ethnicity background.

Ambassador Iji clarified that, not all leaders of Afenifere are against the aspiration of Asiwaju Tinubu, asking leaders with contrary views to have a rethink before it is too late.

” This is democracy, the Afenifere leaders have right to their choice of candidate, but as their name connotes ‘Afenifere” , they must live up to the name and support one of their own”, he opined.

Meanwhile, he charged leaders of the various groups to register with the State Coordinator of ATSCGG, saying they will be more useful at the grassroots because every politics is local.
