2023: Collect their money, vote your conscience says Ex DSS Director

A Retired Director in the Department of State Service (DSS), Sir Mike Ejiofor has charged Nigerians to collect any money offer to them by the politicians ahead of the 2023 general election, saying they should not hesitate to vote for their conscience.

The Ex DSS Director stated this while delivering a lecture at the Public Ulefunta Annual Festival 2022, held at the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA) today, Thursday, 6th October, 2022

Speaking on the theme,”Curbing Electoral Violence and Allied Crimes in Contemporary Nigeria: The Role of Traditional Institution in Perspective”.

Sir Ejiofor said many Nigerians couldn’t resist the temptation of the monetary inducement due to poverty, saying they shouldn’t allow poverty to becloud their sense of reasons in the forthcoming general elections.

” Politicians will come with their miserable N4,000 or less to persuade you to vote for them. Ordinarily, the electorates should reject the money, but due to poverty in the land, they should collect it, it is your money; collect their money and vote your conscience”, he stated.

Representing the governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor said the roles of the traditional rulers in the prevention of crimes and crisis during and after election is very sacrosanct.

He said the state government elevation and recognition of some traditional rulers has demonstrated the believe of the governor in the traditional institution, saying Governor Akeredolu holds them in high esteem.

He congratulated the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi on the celebration of the 2022 Ulefunta festival.

Essay Competition, one of the side attractions for the annual event was won by the student of Elizade University, Ilara Mokin.
