*HON. RAYMOND OLUWATOYIN DAODU, A LEADER WHO HONOURS TRADITION: HIS REMARKABLE GESTURE TO OKA-OBA-IN-COUNCIL*
True leadership is not measured by noise, but by service. While many seek applause, Hon. Raymond Oluwatoyin Daodu (ROD) has chosen a path grounded in gratitude, respect, and responsiveness.
His recent intervention in the refurbishment of the Holman Bus for the Oka-Oba-in-Council goes beyond fixing a vehicle. It is the restoration of dignity, the revival of a cherished symbol, and proof of a leader who listens, especially to the voices of our revered royal fathers.
The bus was originally presented to the Oka Obas over a decade ago by the former Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emiola Dare. With time, it fell into disrepair and stood as a reminder of neglected heritage.
When the Oba-in-Council approached Hon. Daodu, they came with a humble request, not a demand. He responded without delay or fanfare. The bus was fully refurbished and returned to them, not as a political gesture, but as a sincere response to a genuine need.
This act sends a clear message across Akoko South West Constituency I. Leadership, for Hon. Daodu, is not about the size of an office, but the depth of one’s listening ear. He does not push traditional institutions to the background. Instead, he honors them, recognizing that the welfare of our royal fathers is tied to the welfare of the people.
In doing this, he has strengthened the bond between modern governance and our customs, earning the appreciation of the Oka Chiefs and the respect of all who value honour and service.
As Plato noted, “The measure of a man is what he does with power.” Hon. Daodu wields power with humility. He did not ask, “What do I gain?” He asked, “How can I serve those who have served our community?”
For the people of Akoko South West Constituency I, this is a reflection of what to expect from a representative who truly cares. It is a promise kept, a relationship deepened and a bridge built between government and tradition.
Chief Amuda Yusuf Ipaye, The Olumogun of lsiri, Korowa, Oka-Akoko, who received the bus on behalf of the Oba-in-Council, stated that the moment Hon. Daodu was briefed, he acted immediately to refurbish it. He commended Hon. Daodu, offered prayers for his continued success and political elevation, and affirmed that good deeds deserve recognition.
