The Asiwaju Mandate for Group (AMG) has received a major boost ahead of the 2027 general election as a Labour Group in Ondo State, led by former President of the Amalgamated Union, Comrade Prince Solomon Adelegan, formally declared its support and endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his administration’s policies and programmes as beneficial to workers and Nigerians.
The declaration was made on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during a mega rally held at the Asiwaju Mandate Group office in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The event attracted prominent labour leaders and supporters from across the state, including former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ondo State, Comrade Bosede Daramola, Comrade Raheem, and several other labour stakeholders.
The Labour Group used the occasion to recognise what it described as the exemplary leadership of President Tinubu by presenting him with an award of good leadership. A similar honour was also presented in recognition of the contributions of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The group pledged its unalloyed support for the President’s re-election bid, promising to mobilise massive votes for him across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
Speaking with Democrat News Magazine at the event, the President of the Labour Group, Comrade Prince Solomon Adelegan, said the rally was organised to appreciate what he described as the “good works” of President Tinubu, whom he commended as a labour-friendly President. According to him, the administration has made significant funds available to states, helping them meet their obligations, particularly in the payment of workers’ salaries.
Adelegan also commended the Federal Government’s ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across the country, describing the development as historic, particularly in the South-West. He expressed confidence that Ondo State would reciprocate the President’s efforts by giving him massive support at the 2027 polls, saying the state would record unprecedented votes for Tinubu.
Also speaking with journalists, Comrade Bosede Daramola, a former NLC Chairman in Ondo State, said the Tinubu administration had introduced measures that, in her view, had changed the economic situation of many Nigerians. She argued that before the present administration, the benefits of fuel subsidy were largely enjoyed by a few, while the current reforms had created broader opportunities for Nigerians to participate in the economy. She further called on states owing workers to prioritise the payment of salaries and other legitimate entitlements.
In his response, the leader of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Asiwaju Muyiwa Asagunla, expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Labour leadership for the solidarity and endorsement. He particularly commended Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for what he described as his role as a rallying point for the people of Ondo State, noting that his developmental efforts and grassroots acceptance had continued to generate support for President Tinubu.
Asagunla formally accepted the honour and endorsement letter on behalf of the group, assuring the Labour leaders that the document would be presented to Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and subsequently forwarded to President Tinubu. He described the endorsement as a demonstration of confidence in the President’s leadership and a sign of growing grassroots support for the Tinubu administration in Ondo State.
The mega rally ended on a colourful note as supporters who travelled from the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State expressed their commitment to the Tinubu and BTO political project. The gathering was characterised by music, dancing and celebration, with participants reaffirming their determination to mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
