The second term of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN led administration has continued to open more doors for the women of Ondo State with the recent appointment of a woman into another sensitive positions in the state.
With the retirement of Mr Laolu Akindolire having reached the mandated retirement age in the state civil service, the Governor of Ondo State approved the appointment of Mrs Oluwatoyin Esther Oni as the new Accountant General.
The approval of Mrs Oni as Accountant General has been approved by the governor before going for his annual vacation.

It could e recalled that Governor Akeredolu has just appointed the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Ondo State.
In a congratulatory message released to the press by the leadership of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), the state president, Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode commended the governor for standing by his words of promoting and appointing capable women with intimidating credentials into sensitive positions in the state.
Mrs Aborode said, it is crystal clear that the second term of Akeredolu is for women, asking women in the state to brace up for challenging engagement as more appointments are still coming.
According to her, ” As the voice of all women organisations in the state, we demand for proper representation of women in key positions in the state, today, we are reaping the seed of such agitations as our listening governor and caring heart First Lady worked out better deal for womenfolk”.
She stated that, the appointment of Mrs Toyin Oni as the Accountant General has added another feather to the number of appointments so far ditched out to the women of the state.
The President described Governor Akeredolu as a gender sensitive politician that prioritize the affairs of women since his inception as the governor of Ondo State.
” What the Governor is doing within the last few months in terms of appointments is marvelous; it can only be one person, God. Our amiable governor has broken a lot of records and he will continue to break jinx in Ondo State. We are taking our rightful position because Mr Governor has given us voice and we are ready to be heard”.
She also thanked the First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for providing necessary support for women in Ondo State, noting that the appointment of women into sensitive offices were no doubt facilitated by the First Lady who believes women should be heard and tested like their male counterpart.
While congratulating Mrs Toyin Oni on her new appointment, she advised her to live up to expectations while discharging her statutory duties. ” All women in Ondo State are solidly behind you, your must not dissapoint the confidence Mr Governor reposed in you and the entire women of the state”.
Mrs Aborode disclosed further that, like Oliver Twist, the women in the state are still looking forward for more appointments, saying the state can boast of many highly intelligent women who have what it takes to put men on their toes.
She solicited for the appointment of female leaders and members of NGOs, professional bodies into government whenever there is need to make any appointment.
