A monarch from Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Iresi of Osi, Oba David Olajide Okunato has said the Central Bank of Nigeria newly redesign naira notes to be released into circulation in December 15 is not the solution to the country’s problems.
Speaking with the PATH NEWS at the Thanksgiving of the Scripture Group Mission 23rd Annual Convention in Akure, the monarch frowned at the timing.
He said the re-design notes won’t in any way stop kidnapping, money laundering and the likes, saying Nigerians are very smart to device means of carrying out their nefarious activities.
“The decision of the CBN to redesign some Naira Notes from N200, N500 and N1000 is not the solution to myriad of challenges facing the country”.
The Monarch questioned the motive of the proponents of re-design Naira Notes at this critical period of election season, saying it might go beyond the reasons given by the CBN to Nigerians.
“Many good ideas are marred by wrong timing; people will read meaning to any policy of government at this period. The proponents of the idea understand the rationale behind it at this time”.
Iresi stated further that, it is only God that can turn the country’s fortune round for good and not Redesigning Naira Notes that might have interior motives.
While congratulating Revd Akintayo Suulola on this year convention, he said he can’t forget his religious root, saying he was an active member of the Ministry before his coronation as monarch.
Speaking on the convention theme “The New Glory”, Oba Olajide affirmed that the new glory has manifested in his community with the forthcoming presentation of Staff of Office to the community by Ondo State Government.
“Aside the manifestation of New Glory in my community, very soon, new glory will soon transform in the life of the Ministry’s General Overseer and other members of the church.
Iresi appealed to Nigerians to see 2023 Presidential Election beyond ethnicity or religion, adding that what Nigerians need at this moment is a leader that has the capacity and wherewithal to provide good leadership that will change the living conditions of an average Nigerian.
“2023 shouldn’t be centered on where I come from; I am Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo but praying to God to give us leader that will prioritize the welfare of its citizens and bring rapid development to the country as a whole”.
He charged Christians and SGM Members to shine their eyes ahead of the 2023 Polls and vote for their conscience, praying for God of New Glory to locate them.
