PDP CRISIS: Eddy Olafeso, Others Shun Oyinlola Reconciliation Meeting

Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Led PDP Zonal Reconciliation Committee failed to meet all the aggrieved members of PDP in Akure, Ondo State capital yesterday as members loyal to Dr Eddy Olafeso boycotted the meeting.

The leader of the party in the South West, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State inaugurated a reconciliation committee in November 12, 2020 to look into the grievances of members across the six states of the zone.

While addressing the press after the meeting held at the party secretariat at Alagbaka, Akure, Prince Oyinlola described the meeting as successful despite the absent of some invited members to the meeting.

He said the committee came to Ondo State to dialogue, discuss area of disputes and resolve grievances amiably in preparation for future political engagement.

He appealed to aggrieved members to shealth their swords and allow peace to reign, adding that the party can’t go into election with a divided house.

” This reconciliation is the beginning of preparation towards 2023 elections. We must be united to win the forthcoming battle. We should not relent in our efforts in bringing everybody on board”.

Meanwhile, the Ayo Fayose led group has earlier met at the residence of Dr Eddy Olafeso in Akure strategizing on how to woo support for Olafeso returns as the zonal chairman.

The group was said to has directed its members to shun invitation to the meeting called by the former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, describing such meeting as self serving and for personal gain.

In his welcome address, the state chairman of the party, Hon Fatai Adams linked the crisis rocking the party to the outcome of the governorship primary that produced Eyitayo Jegede SAN.

He said despite the transparency of the primary that produced the party’s flag bearer, the aggrieved found holes in the primary and worked against the party in the governorship election.

” Some of these people agitating to lead our party at the zonal level worked against us, some even collected money from APC to work against our party and candidate”.

He further disclosed that, the division in the party was because some of the aggrieved want PDP to lose the governorship election, thereby wanting the party to remain in perpetual opposition.

The Chairman also attrubuted the division to selfish agenda of some people who prioritize their ambition above the overall interest of the party.

Attendees at the meeting includes, all members of state BOT, Immediate past Chairman of the party, Engr. Clement Faboyede, PDP Governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede SAN, State Executive members, Chairmen across the 18 Local Governments among other stakeholders.
