A member of the Board of Trustees and leader of the People Democratic Party in Ondo State, Chief Segun Adegoke has described Dr Eddy Olafeso led aggrieved members of the party as selfish that only think of themselves as against the overall interest of the party.

He stated this during a meeting called by the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Led PDP Zonal Reconciliation Committee, held at the party secretariat in Akure.

Chief Adegoke who was known for his frank talk said the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party is unnecessary if only the aggrieved did not allow their selfishness and ambition to overshadow them.

” There is no reason for the grievances but I can’t say that somebody does not has a right to be aggrieved”.

He noted that former Governor Oyinlola led zonal PDP Reconciliation Committee came to Ondo State to look into genuine grievances of members so as to resolve matters arising amicably.

He frowned at the members who boycotted the meeting in spite of invitation extended to them.”This is the third times they will shun meetings; which means they are still very angry with whatever is getting them annoyed”.

He traced the recent internal wrangling in the party to the outcome of the governorship primary that was won by Eyitayo Jegede SAN.

In his words, ” Because some people lose out of the governorship primary, they gathered sympathiers who worked with them during primary to create division in party”.

Chief Adegoke said the former chairman of the South West Zone of the PDP was advised against running for governorship by a leader of the party but ignored such advise.

” Having lost the primary to Eyitayo Jegede, he wants to return to his previous position as zonal chairman, whereas the position has been zoned to Oyo State”.

He appealed to every members of the party to allow peace and harmony to prevail, adding that no one is bigger than the party.
