The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ondo State Council has elected Comrade Ademola Adeniji Olapade as the new State Chairman.
This is coming 8months after the struggle for the seat began in the state with the opponent, Comrade Akinyemi Olatunbosun of NULGE, stepping down during the election at NLC Secretariat in the interest of peace.
NLC Returning officer from Abuja, Comrade Mike Olarenwaju who later administered oath of office on Olapade urged him to live up to the expectations of the workers who have reposed trust in his ability to serve.
He also charged members to support the new administration to succeed in office.
Responding, the new state chairman, Comrade Ademola promised to embark on reconciliation and inclusiveness noting that he will also prioritize workers welfare.
In a chat with newsmen shortly after, Ondo State NUJ Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite who chaired the Electoral Committee said he was very happy to have the opportunity to put Ondo NLC back on track after eight months of struggle.
Particularly, he thanked Comrade Olatunbosun for his decision in pursuit of peace and interest of the union.
Also speaking, Comrade Afolabi Oluwafemi appreciated all members most especially Comrade Olatunbosun for his decision to step down.
The election which was witnessed by the Representative of the State Head of Service, Mr Sunday Omirin and the Controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour & Employment, Mrs Olanike Mogboruko as well as Labour leaders from the Southwest states was clearly adjudged peaceful and fair by all standards.
