In recognition of his selfless service to the promotion of education in Ondo State, the Management of the Global Education Focus Magazine bestowed Education Award of Excellence on the State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Comrade Tajudeen Balogun.
The honour was bestowed on him by the Management of the magazine based on the outstanding performance of the ASUSS Chairman to the development of education in Ondo State and contribution to teachers upliftment.
In his address, the Publisher of the Magazine, Ayodele Ologunnola said the awardees were painstakingly nominated and shortlisted among many stakeholders and Principals in Ondo State, noting that the award was to motivate and encourage them to do more.
Speaking, Comrade Tajudeen Balogun thanked the Management of the Education Global Focus Magazine for honoring him with the prestigious award, saying it will definitely serve as a motivating factor and impectus to continue to contribute to the development of education in Nigeria
The ASUSS Chairman commended the publisher of the magazine for beaming its search light on teachers in the state and so recognised them, noting that teachers need to be encouraged and treated well like any other professions in the state.
Comrade Balogun said the challenges of education are numerous, appealing to Ondo State Government to organize another Education Summit where all stakeholders will evaluate the decadence in the sector.
While commending the Old Students Association of the schools for their contributions to its Alma mater, noting that government alone can’t do it considering the economy reality of the country.
He tasked parents to take the welfare of their children with utmost priority, adding that the primary responsibilities of every parent is to cater for the basic needs and monitor their wards.
Balogun acknowledged teachers in the state for their great work in moulding the lives of the students, saying despite the irregular payment of salaries, teachers are doing a yeoman job in giving the students the best services.
He asked the governor to prioritize the welfare of the teachers and ensure teachers are pay as and when due
