Ondo Carpenters & Furniture Makers Union Hold Election July

Ondo State Chapter of the Carpenters and Furniture Makers Union (CF) has slated July 2023 for the state general election as the administration of the present leadership is billed to end in August.

Speaking with the PATH at the monthly general meeting of the Union held at the State Secretariat in Akure, the Chairman of the CF Electoral Body, Comrade Awobusuyi Albert said the body is fully prepared to conduct free, fair and credible election in July.

According to him, “we have communicated two dates to the State Government through the office of the Special Adviser on Union Matters to the Governor, waiting for the approved date in the month of July”.

While rolling out timetable for the election, Comrade Awobusuyi stated that ban on campaign has been lifted as each aspirant has begun to reach out to the delegates from each of the 24 local governments.

He added that, the Electoral Body will screen all interested aspirants for various positions ranging from the Executive Chairmanship to the least position.

In his words, ” With the records at our disposal, not less than 18 aspirants have shown interest in vying for one position or another. Ondo State is splited into 24 local governments and each local government is entitle to 15 elegible voters who the aspirants have the privilege to woo and sell their manifestos to”.

He assured all the contestants of equal treatment and strict adherance to the rules and regulations guilding the conduct of the election without compromising their integrity.

The CF Electoral Chairman listed the position to be contested for which includes State Executive Chairman, 3 Vice Chairmen, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Publicity Secretary, PRO 1 and 2, Police 1and 2, Assistant Police, 3 Ex-Officio.

Comrade Awobusuyi appealed to all contestants to shun violence before, during and after the election, saying the body won’t hesitate to punish any erring aspirant that disobey the peace accord signed before the election.

In the same vein, the Chairman Board of Trustees, Mr Isiaka Kilani commended the electoral body for the preparation so far put in place, saying as the Advisory Organ of the Union, they have believe in the Comrade Awobusuyi Albert led Electoral Body.

He added that, BOT is saddle with the responsibility of ensuring peaceful coexistence and cordial relationship among the leadership and members of the Union, saying they will continue to provide good leadership that will bring harmonious working relationship with every organ of the union.

Comrade Kilani who said the July election is the sixth edition of electing officers of the Union noted that the election is another opportunity for Members to elect new Members or reelect the current Exco whose tenure expire in August.

He admonished the aspirants to accept the outcome of the election in goodfaith, saying CF is one united family that no election can divide.

He warned against campaign of calmnny and hatred among aspirants, adding that election will come and go.

Meanwhile, the State President of OSAG, Comrade Daisi Komolafe along side OSATU president, Comrade Akarakiti and TAN State Chairman, Comrade Ale paid a courtesy visit to the Union.
