New Olujare Begins 90 Days Traditional Rite, Says Installation Follow Due Process

By our correspondent, 16th April, 2025.

Contrary to the speculation that the installation of Oba Adekolajo Aladeseyi as the Olujare of Ijare didn’t follow due process, the monarch has cleared air on the matter saying both the traditional and government requirements for his installation were duely followed.

It could be recalled that, new olujare, Oba Adekolajo Aladeseyi from the Okilorigbokun rulling house was installed on Tuesday 15th April , 2025 after four years of struggles to fill the vacant stool of the Olujare, following the demise of Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun, Kokotiri the II.

Speaking with the PATH, the monarch expressed gratitude to Almighty God for making it all possible, saying it is only God that install a king.

According to him, Ijare people have for long awaited their king and like the Biblical David, God made it all possible in His own time.

“Look around you, everywhere is peaceful and that goes to show you that I am the people’s choice and that the people are indeed happy with their king.

When that selection process started, we were 13 in number and after consultations with the oracle, 4 of us were penciled down by the Omo Owa in Council, whose primary duty is to coordinate the names that the oracle had picked and send to the Local Government office and to the Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs as well as to Governor’s Office.

We did this over a year ago and since then, we have been waiting for the King Makers to do the needful.

Ours is a First Class Oba’s seat and the continuous absence of a monarch has set this community back in so many ways. Look at our roads, we don’t have accessible road networks to move our goods out.

So, God has made a way and made it possible as the community and the elders picked me out of the 4 and said I should go ahead and sit on the throne”, he said.

He also used the opportunity to deny the allegations of holding chiefs at gunpoint to select him.

“It is all lies. No chief was held at gunpoint. I am right here undergoing the 3 months traditional rites. In fact, a lot of groups have been coming to pay their homage”, he added

Particularly, he thanked youths in the community for their support while also affirming his readiness to reach out to other contestants in the race to join hands with him to build the community.

“In every contest, there is bond to be a winner. This is not a competition but I understand that we are all desirious to seat on the throne of our forefathers. But God has chosen David in a special way. I am ready to work with everybody to move Ijare forward”, he further stressed.
