NCWS jubilates as Akeredolu appoints first female SSG

National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), in Ondo State has hailed the appointment of the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Princess Oladunni Odu, describing the governor as gender sensitive with the manner women were appointed into key positions.

In a Press Released made available to the PATH, the State President of NCWS, Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode commended the governor for the choice of a woman as SSG.

The President noted that, Akeredolu has over time promised to appoint more women in his government, adding that the position of SSG given to Princess Odu has shown the Governor as a man of integrity and keeper of his words.

” NCWS, the voice of women worldwide has come with gratitude to Mr Talk and Do for appointing the first female SSG in the history of Ondo State”.

“We are very happy with the governor, he promised to give more women sense of belonging while appointing member of his cabinet, with the first woman as SSG, better days are definitely ahead for us”.

She described Akeredolu as jinx breaker with the manner the governor set new records in Ondo State.” For the first time in the Ministry of Health, a Pharmacist was appoinhted as Permanent Secretary and she happens to be a woman, Pharm Mrs Aladenola likewise the first Journalist to be appointed Permanent Secretary was also a woman, Mrs Julie Fayehun”.

Mrs Aborode said further that, Governor Akeredolu has made women proud in the South West, saying Ondo State women are enjoying uncommon favour.” In the South West, Princess Oladunni Odu was the second woman to be appointed as SSG, the first was in Osun State”.

She requested for more appointments for women in Akeredolu government, saying women of today are better positioned for leadership. “Like Oliver Twist, we are pleading for more appointments of women in sensitive positions; we have intelligent and industrious women among us who are capable of delivery on the mandate given to them”.

She thanked the First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for pushing the cause of women in the state. ” Our First Lady deserves to be commended for promoting womanhood in the state with her various programmes designed to ameliorate the living condition of downtrodden women. “Behind every successful man, there is always a supporting woman”.

She asked female politicians yet to be appointed into any position by the present government to exercise patience and calmnesss, saying their years of elevation will soon come.

The President assured the governor of women support across the local governments, saying they are solidly behind his government.
