In what has become an annual event to remember the memory of Late Monisola Adeniyan Eddo, the mother of Hon Omowumi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, Monisola Adeniyan Eddo Foundation in conjunction with My Choice Group have gifted more than 200 widows, elderly women and committed members of My Choice Group with cash and food to mark the 17th edition of the annual ceremony.

While addressing the guests and beneficiaries at the event that was held at the State Headquarters of My Choice Group in Akure, Ondo State capital, the founder of the group, Hon Olawumi Ohwovoriole extolled the kind gesture of her late mother who she described as an embodiment of God’s grace.

Late Monisola Adeniyan Eddo died on the 27th of March, 2004; a foundation was established in her name with sole aim of impacting the lives of the less privileged and vulnerable in the society in line with the vision of what Late Monisola Eddo stood for during her life time.

” My mother is very kind, cheerful givers, caring, accommodating, humble and an embodiment of God’s grace. I learnt and emulate the act of giving from her”.

Hon Omowumi disclosed that, she loves to impact the lives of people around her positively, believing that any of her benevolent act will be remembered by the beneficiaries no matter how small now and forever.

” I will love to be remembered for the good legacy and many problems I am able to solve. People must learn to invest their money in the lives of the vulnerable that will value whatever kobo they donated to them”.

She stated that, she is not giving to the needy because she is the richest but believes in touching people’s lives, changing their living condition within the limited resources at her disposal. ” l have been giving to people before my active involvement in politics; it has nothing to do with politics but being passionate about the well-being of the downtrodden in the society”.

Speaking at the event, the immediate past Commissioner of Ministry of Natural Resources, Hon Idowu Otetubi commended the non-stop empowerment of My Choice Group Foundation, saying history will not forget many lives she has impacted and touched in the last 17 years.

” Of what benefit to humanity if you built mansions and people around you can’t feel your impact? Whatever Hon Olawumi is doing today, we remain evergreen in the memories of people she wipes their tears and put food on their tables, it is a legacy to be emulated”.

In the same vein, Barr Tobi Ogunleye, former Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Transport said it gladdens the heart of God when people impacted the lives of the less privileged in the society.

He congratulated her for remembering her late mother by extending hands of love to the widows and women, noting that ploughing back to the society is a good gesture that all political leaders and well to do in the society should emulate.

Mrs. Naomi Joel Awak, Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development from Gombe State joined other invited guests to commend Hon Olawumi philanthropic gesture, describing her as a woman with large heart who is ready to empty her account to make people around her happy.

Barr Edet Eyo Bassey, Member APC Membership Registration and Revalidation, Ekiti State said within the limited time he has spent with Hon Olawumi, she proved her worth as a woman with good heart, a generous personality who see act of giving as way of life.

Over 200 beneficiaries received cash donations of N5,000 each and raffle draw was played where lucky winners went home with Television, Table Cooking Gases, Gas Cylinders, Fans, Fridge, Pressing Irons among other items.

Other side attractions were cash donations to lucky people who recited the National Pledge correctly, presentation of Peace Ambassador Award to Hon Olawumi by the Odua Voice Magazine and presentation of gift to her by the Ondo State Chapter of My Choice Group.

Dignitaries at the event were Hon Idowu Otetubi, Hon Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, Barr Tobi Ogunleye, Mrs. Naomi Joel (Commissioner of Women Affairs, Gombe), Chief Olu Ojo, Mrs. Dupe Adetuwo, Barr Edet Eyo Bassey among others.
