LGSC Retreats Meant To Reshape, Redirect Effective Service Delivery At LG- Idris

The Chairman of Ondo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon Femi Idris has disclosed that, the retreat organized by the commission was meant to reshape and redirect the course of Local Government for effective service delivery.

Hon Idris stated this in his welcome address at the 3-Day Retreat for Political functionaries and Top Career Officers in the Local Government Service of the State held at Royal Bird Hotels and Towers, Alagbaka Akure.

The Retreat with theme “UNDERSTANDING THE FUNCTIONS, LIMITATIONS AND CHALLENGES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SYSTEM AND APPLYING EXTANT STATUES AND REGULATIONS FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY, was organized by Ondo State Local Government Service Commission for Local Government Chairmen and Heads of Local Government Administration.

His words: “This retreat is coming at a time when synergy among stakeholders is required to place Local Government Service on a good stead for the delivery of dividends of democracy to the populace.

“We must collectively formulate appropriate response to the various security breaches that are gradually becoming a recurring decimal in the arithmetic of our social existence”, he said.

Declaring the retreat open, Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa charged the State Local Government Chairmen on the need for peer review and synergy for the needed impactful governance at the grassroot.

Giving insight to the needful for the retreat, Aiyedatiwa said, “you will agree with me that a retreat of this nature is always an occasion for top players in a system to receive fresh insights and ideas on how to deal with emerging and contemporary issues with regard to the performance of tasks and discharge of duties relating to their offices.

“I’m sure that, this type of high caliber retreat would be an opportunity for resource persons and participants to interrogate current issues in governance and service delivery at the grassroot level, he said.

“Some possible outcomes for organizers of this retreat which may be summarized as follows: synergy in qualitative service delivery at grassroots level: and improved communication between political office holders and leadership of the bureaucracy.
