IPU Rolls Out Programmes Celebrating Ikun Day 2023

The programme of events for the Ikun Day 2023 has been released by the Ikun Progressive Union, Ikun Akoko.
The event, expected to be graced by top dignitaries, sons and daughters of the Agrarian Community is the 32nd Anniversary of Ikun Day.
To grace the occasion is the Governor of Ondo State and His Deputy, Iralepo of Isinkan, traditional ruler of the day, Senator Jide Ipinsagba, Hon Gboyega Adefarati, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo among other dignitaries.
Ikun Day is an annual event which the climax usually come up on the third Saturday of the month of August of every year.
Briefing the Journalists at a Press Conference in Akure, the National President of the Ikun Progressive Union, Elder Orimijupa Olaniran Titus highlighted programmes of event for the 2023 edition of Ikun Day.
Elder Orimijupa appealed for the cooperation of every son and daughter of the town while asking for exclusive media coverage of the two weeks event.
He added that the Annual Ikun Day is an opportunity for every son and daughter of the town to experience togetherness, unity, peace, and progress of Ikun Akoko.
He charged every invited guests and indigines of the town to donate generously for the completion of the Palace Administrative Block, saying the community is looking forward in raising N32 million.
The President assured every attendant of the event of maximum security as Head of various security agencies have been briefed of the Programme.
According to the president, the two weeks programme of Ikun Day will start on Monday 7th of August with Press Briefing, fasting and prayer, football match.
On the 14th of August, Ayo Olopon, football match and cultural display while on the 15th, Debate and Quiz. Women’s Day, Novelty Match and Cultural Display is slated for Wednesday 16th.
The whole community will embark on Environment Sanitation, Pounded Yam Competition on Thursday 17th while Marathon Race, Jumaat Service, Homage to Kabiyesi, Award and Gala Night will hold on Friday 18th.
The Grand finale of the Programme will hold on Saturday, 19th at the New Palace where all the Unions, Clubs and Associations will gather amidst pomp and pageantry, Cultural Display, conferment of Chieftaincy Title and Fund Raising and thanksgiving on Sunday to mark the end of the Programme.
