FUTA 15th Registry Annual Lecture: Mummy’s Place Proprietress, Dr. Damilola Oshin Bags Outstanding Edupreneur Award

The Proprietress of the multiple award-winning Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College, Akure, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin, has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence as Outstanding Edupreneur at the 15th Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Registry Annual Lecture, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to educational development, innovation and leadership in Nigeria.

Receiving the award at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, FUTA, Dr. Oshin expressed profound gratitude and humility while speaking with Democrat News Magazine. She described the honour as a privilege she never expected, saying she felt deeply elated and humbled to be counted worthy among many accomplished educationists.

She dedicated the award to Almighty God for His grace and mercy, while also appreciating the parents, students, teachers and members of staff of Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College for their unwavering support and commitment to excellence.

The renowned educationist also extended heartfelt appreciation to the management of FUTA, particularly the Registrar and the organisers of the annual lecture, for recognising her efforts in transforming education. She equally thanked members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) under the leadership of Hon. Sodique for their continuous support and encouragement throughout her educational journey. She urged all stakeholders in the education sector to remain committed to quality teaching, innovation and character development, stressing that education remains the bedrock of every nation’s progress.

The intellectual highlight of the event was the keynote lecture delivered by Prof. Hope Eghagha, former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State and Professor of English Literature and Literary Analysis at the University of Lagos. Speaking on the thought-provoking topic, “Quality or Quantity: Rethinking Higher Education Administration in 21st Century Nigeria,” Prof. Eghagha challenged policymakers, university administrators and stakeholders to place greater emphasis on quality, innovation and effective leadership in repositioning Nigeria’s higher education system for global competitiveness. The programme was hosted by Mr. Charles Olusegun Adeleye, while the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Temidayo Oladiji, who also chaired the lecture, moderated an engaging question-and-answer session.

In a goodwill message, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, congratulated Dr. Oshin on the well-deserved recognition, describing her as an outstanding educationist, administrator and nation-builder.

The Governor noted that the award reflects decades of dedication, innovation and excellence through the establishment of ICT-driven institutions that have consistently produced academically sound and morally upright students. He commended the FUTA Registry for celebrating individuals whose contributions have positively transformed society and prayed that God would grant Dr. Oshin greater wisdom, good health and more opportunities to continue shaping lives through education.

Similarly, the Management of TRACE Media Group felicitated Dr. Oshin, describing the award as a fitting recognition of her visionary leadership and remarkable impact on education in Ondo State and Nigeria. The organisation praised her for building not only schools but also future leaders through Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College.

Speaking after receiving his own recognition, the Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State, Prof. Francis Igbasan, stated that the award would serve as a motivation to continue advancing educational excellence, adding that McPherson University would sustain its impressive performance among universities in Nigeria and beyond.

Other distinguished personalities were equally honoured during the colourful ceremony, including Mr. Eke-Desmond, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Bird Tower, alongside several other outstanding individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted education, entrepreneurship and national development.

The 15th FUTA Registry Annual Lecture once again reaffirmed the university’s commitment to celebrating excellence, visionary leadership and transformative service to humanity.
