Flouting of Parallel Artisan’s Group by SSA to the Governor on Artisan Matters, Artisan’s Group in Ondo State Plans Statewide Protest

Following the flouting of parallel artisan groups in Ondo State, named Association Of Nigeria Artisans and Technicians (ASNAT), the leadership of the Ondo State Artisan Groups (OSAG) is organizing a statewide protest to vent their grievances against the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Artisan Matters, Comrade Daisi Komolafe, the organizer of the new group.
It could be recalled that a parallel group, Association of Nigeria Artisan’s and Technicians (ASNAT) which is a body of Professionally Skilled Workers (Artisan’s) was pulled out of OSAG due to some questionable crimes allegedly committed by the SSA during his reign as the two terms President General of Ondo State Artisan’s Group (OSAG).
Some of the allegations leveled against Comrade Daisi includes refusal to handover to the newly elected President General since November 27, 2023, conversion of OSAG vehicle to his personal property, inability to give detailed disbursement of Micro Credit Loans given by Ondo State government between 2015, 2023 and 2.024 among others.
In a press statement made available to Newsmen, the leadership of OSAG said the statewide protest became necessary, with intent of drawing the attention of the government to the activities of the SSA on Artisan Matters, Com. Daisi Komolafe which if not check on time, it might trauncate the peaceful coexistence of Artisan’s in Ondo State and the State government.
The statement affirmed that the only group duly recognized by Ondo State Government is Ondo State Artisan’s group (OSAG) with 87 different duly registered Associations and Unions under under the umbrella in which Ondo State United Artisan’s was formed.
The bodies under the United Artisans’ Group comprises Ondo State Artisan’s Group (OSAG), Ondo State Artisan’s and Trader’s Union (OSATU), Carpenter and Furniture Maker’s Union (C/F), Tailor Association of Nigeria (TAN), Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) and Ondo State Hairdressers Association.
The Released added that as far as Ondo State Artisan Groups are concern, there’s no faction in the group that will warrant forming of a new group spearheaded by Comrade Daisi, an appointee of the Governor.
“To forestall the looming crisis among the Artisans in the state, Governor Aiyedatiwa should call Comrade Daisi Komolafe to order and ban the activities of the group which was formed with selfish motive and personal benefits of the organizer.
