Fiwasaye’s Principal, Omobola Ojoge Bags Ondo State Best Secondary School Principal Award

The multiple awards winning Principal of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure, Dr Omobola Temitope Ojoge has again been conferred with the Prestigious Ondo State Award as the Best Secondary School Principal in the Sunshine State.

Ojoge is one of the most decorated principals in the state, having received several honors and laurels both within and outside Ondo State based on her outstanding contributions to education sector of the state and Nigeria.

Speaking to The PATH News Magazine, she thanked God and the government for the recognition, saying having collected several awards in the past, the State Award further shown that Ondo State government recognized her contributions to the education sector.

Her words: ” I have been looking forward to the State recognition but thank God it came during the 2025 World Teachers Day. It is a motivation to continue to do more of what earned me this award. It will no doubt spur and encourage me in discharging my duties as the Principal of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School Akure”.

She encouraged fellow teachers to remain committed, saying, “Your hard work will not go unnoticed. Work for your glorious days ahead.”

Representing the Governor of Ondo State Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, said each year, World Teachers’ Day provides us a moment to pause and reflect on the priceless contributions of teachers to society,” Mr. Akinduro said. “This year’s theme reminds us that education thrives when we work together — teachers with teachers, schools with communities, and educators with government.”

He highlighted several key achievements and ongoing interventions by the Ondo State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayiedatiwa, aimed at supporting the teaching workforce. These include: Prompt payment of salaries and recruitment of teachers timely promotions and continuous career development, Training in digital literacy and innovative teaching methods. Enhanced welfare through health insurance and housing, renovation of schools and expanded digital platforms and recognition programmes celebrating outstanding educators.

The Commissioner congratulated the teachers conferred with State Honour while urging teachers in the state to be up and doing saying Ondo State government will continue to celebrate outstanding teachers in their different fields.

Representing the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, the Director of Studies, Mr. Ige Akinduro, delivered the commissioner’s address, warmly welcoming attendees and emphasizing the importance of teacher collaboration in building resilient education systems.

The Statewide Teacher Awards, which recognized outstanding educators from each Local Government Area for excellence in leadership, dedication, punctuality, learner performance, and school development were conferred on outstanding teachers.

Some of the awardees are Fagbote Kehinde Veronica (Akure North) – Head Teacher, Ajagunna Sade Abimbola (Akoko North West) – Teacher, Ogunsan Kayode (Irele) – Teacher, Adegbami Olurmilayo Mary (Odigbo) – Head Teacher and many more across the 18 LGAs.
