The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Ondo State Chapter has joined other sympathizers to mourn the demise of the governor of Ondo State, Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, describing him as a fearless fighter.
Akeredolu died on the 27th of December, 2023 in Germany after battling with Procrate Cancer.
In a Press Statement made available to PATH, the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Adekunle Adewale said the news of the governor death was received with rude shock saying the vacuum created in the state in terms of the Late Governor’s fearlessness, boldness and openess while attending to both State and National issues would take a long time to be forgotten.
Comrade Adekunle described the Late Governor as a compassionate Leader that hold Workers in the state in high esteem, noting that his impact was felt in all sectors of the state.
“We are definitely going to miss our late Governor who has done well by all standards. Are you going to talk about his impact on workers welfare, this is a great loss to us as a State?”
“On behalf of NUPENG in Ondo State, I commiserate with the immediate family of Akeredolu, people of Ondo State, Ondo State Government, APC and international communities that our Dear Governor has contributed immensely to while alive”.
Meanwhile, the President commended the inaugural speech of the newly sworn-in Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa who promised to sustain the legacy of his Late Boss and completion of the ongoing projects across the length and breath of Ondo State.
” I have no doubt in my mind that Governor Aiyedatiwa will sustain the legacy of Late Governor because they both share the same vision of transforming our Dear Sunshine State”.
The Chairman urged the people of the state to take solace in the good legacy Akeredolu left behind.
