Don’t Set Ondo State On Fire, Group Warns Adetimehin Against Forming Parallel APC Elders Caucus

The leadership of the APC Elders’ Caucus in Ondo State has warned the state Chairman of the party, Engr Ade Adetimehin from setting up a parallel Elders Caucus in the state saying his action is likely to set Ondo State on political fire.

In a brief sent to PATH by the Secretary of the Group, Otunba Agboola Kelly stated that some elders were invited to a meeting on Monday, 18th December, 2023 through an SMS sent by the Personal Assistant of the Chairman, Engr Ade Adetimehin.

The Secretary said some of the elders invited to the meeting smell foul play and read the intention of the unholy meeting as an avenue to inaugurate and present ‘Fake Elders’ Caucus to the Acting Governor.

Otunba Kelly added that since the formation of the APC Elders Caucus in 2016, Engr Ade Adetimehin since assumption of office in the last six years as the State Chairman has not deem it fit to invite the Elders to a meeting, saying the emergency meeting look suspicious with personal motive.

According to the Secretary, “The existing ONDO STATE APC ELDERS’ CAUCUS have as members elder Statesmen like His Excellency, Alh Alli Olanusi and Chief Jamiu Afolabi Ekungba both of who are BOT Members, among other renowned members too are Chief P A Akeju, Senator Olupitan, General Omosebi rtd, Gen Funso Oyeneyin rtd, Prof Olu Aderounmu, Pa T S Akinrinbola, Chief Arohunmolase, Dr Terebo, Pa Rogbitan, Capt Oyepata rtd, just to mention a few”.

He alleged that the State Chairman of APC Engr Ade Adetimehin unilaterally handpicked party Executives in the wards to the State level of the party in Ondo State, ditto the members of the now outlawed LGA and LCDA Excecutives.

“He had also drawn out the list of those who will contest the forthcoming ODIEC election as well”.

According to him, “The only sane organ of the party for now is the ELDERS’ CAUCUS which he now wants to tamper with by creating a parallel one and present same to our Acting Governor to further have his hold and total control of the party machineries to the detriment of the larger majority.

He therefore called on the Acting Governor to caution the State Chairman from the politics of divide and rule which the Elders Caucus will reject, saying if urgent action is not taken, it might affect the victory of the party in the forthcoming election.

“If Engr Adetimehin isn’t curbed now, he may, GOD FORBID, turn the entire state into Idanre, his Local Govt, where our party had lost all elections since he became Chairman through his divide and rule politics there”.

“He has never won his unit or Ward. If the other Local Governments had been like Idanre, APC would not have been in power here. In sane climates, Ade Adetimehin would have resigned honourably to pave way for reorganisation of our party, to reposition it for wining the 2024 Governorship election.”
