A community leader from Ondo State, Otunba Benji Oloye has explained that Dangote Refinery alone can’t solve Nigeria’s oil issues noting that Federal Government should license more Modular Refineries in the Oil Producing States.

Otunba Benji who doubles as the Bashorun of Owo Kingdom stated this while chatting with the PATH on the state of the nation particularly on the daily increase in the price of PMS across the country.

Nigerians were hopeful and expecting Dangote Refinery to help the country’s energy independence and resolve fuel crisis and pricing but reverse is the case as Nigerians are buying per litre above N1000.

Benji said the refinery of Dangote is simply not enough to ease Nigeria’s fuel issues, noting that if Modular Refineries are encourage by the Federal Government, it will go a long way of solving scarcity of petrol and crash in price.

“Dangote Refinery is just a step to resolving the country’s fuel supply and pricing issues. Modular Refineries if encourage will help addressing challenges in the oil sector”.

He appealed to the Federal Government to consider licensing more Modular Refineries saying it will help to address the issue of energy poverty in the oil region and availability of the product, reducing over-reliance on imported fuel.

” The Federal Government should purchase Modular Refinery through Bank of Industry , train people via Amnesty programme in the Niger Delta or oil Producing State , Licence them and give the modular refinery to them on instalmental payment . With two Refineries in each of the oil producing State, Refined product will flood Nigeria”.
