A Non-Governmental Organization, Friends of Barrister Adu (FOBA) has installed a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr Olumuyiwa Adu as the Patron of the organization.
The organization was officially launched on Saturday 29th March, 2025 in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State. The NGO is apolitical and not sponsored by the government.
The Director General of the group, Comrade Sunday Oyedele said the group name the body after Barr Olumuyiwa Adu based on his outstanding contributions to the development of humanity and society.
He added that, the group was established with intent of using it as a platform to reach out to the needy and less privileged in the society, a vision which Barr Olumuyiwa Adu is passionate about.
Oyedele noted that, the Akure born Philanthropist has wipe away the tears of many people through Olumuyiwa Adu Foundation saying FOBA will further support the philatropic initiative of the APC stalwart.
The State Coordinator of FOBA, Mrs Oluwayemisi Oki appreciated God for sending Barr Adu to many household in Ondo State who have benefitted from his kind gesture.
She explained further that, FOBA is independent body for die hard loyalists of Barr Adu who have unconditional and genuine love for him saying it is not political as the door of the group is open to interested public who believes in the calling of Barr Adu.
Oki stated that, the conferment of the group Patron on Barr Adu is mainly to appreciate and commend his giant strides within and outside Ondo State.
In his acceptance speech, Barr Adu thanked the people for this life time honour saying he wasn’t expecting it.
His words: ” It gladden my heart for this great honour done on me, most especially, naming the group after me. You can be assured of my continue support and I urge all my childhood friends, associates and lovers to join the group.
“I thank the initiators of this group who deem it fit to establish a non political group using my name. The is a great honor that I will forever cherish”.
Adu asked the group to be wary of people whose views are different from the mission and objectives of establishing the group, saying in unity and harmony, the group will go places.
” Transparency, accountability and probity in the midst of love and unity will keep the group together. You must be wary of intruders that might want to disrupt the group, set a standard for members which will be a guiding rules for all”.
Meanwhile, the Patron was decorated and award of recognition was given to him. Part of the vision of the group is establishing a cooperative society where members and needy can access funds.
Executives in attendance are Comrade Sunday Oyedele (FOBA Director GENERAL DG), Comrade Oluwayemisi (FOBA state Coordinator), Comrd Oniya Olabisi (FOBA Ondo State Secretary), Awisẹ Sunday Agbaje Jagi (FOBA Ondo Central Coordinator).
