Barr. Funke Lawani, Adu, Obanla, Others officially join APC

Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has officially received Barr Olumuyiwa Adu, Barr Funke Lawani, Bode Obanla, Others into the fold of the progressive party in the Sunshine State.

In the mother of all defection in the history of Ondo State, the State Chairman of APC, Engr Ade Adetimehin at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park welcomed the decampees from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), among other parties to All Progressive Congress (APC), assuring them of equal treatment and opportunity.

Engr Ade Adetimehin further stated that those joining the party is a reflection of how accommodating the ruling party was and a testimony of the unity and harmony within the party structure.

He added that with the massive defectors to the ruling party, the main opposition party, PDP has been grounded in Ondo State considering the political strength and support based of the major decampee, Dr Olumuyiwa Adu.

“This is the end of the opposition in Ondo State, this is the large part of PDP and other opposition combined together, joining the ruling party in Ondo State”.

“We are able to achieve this because Governor Akeredolu is working hard to uplift the standard of progressive APC in Ondo State. Since we came on board, we have been receiving from opposition, our party has been waxing stronger everyday, no member of our party has ever defected to any political party”.

While describing the defection as uncommon, Adetimehin stated that the day is a day of joy for APC in Ondo State, as the party is getting bigger and larger.


“We are well structured and we won’t disappoint the people of Ondo State, with what the people of the state were able to give us during the last election, you will know that APC is on ground in Ondo State, we know our onions. We shall continue to serve the people of the state as we have promised”.

“Before this decamping, we’ve been receiving people, this is not the first time. The essence of coming is because the party is performing, we run an open administration in our party” he added.

Speaking with the Newsmen, Barr Lawani a decampee from Akoko South West in Supare Akoko Ward 10 thanked the party’s chairman and members of APC for the warm reception, promising to cooperate with the leadership of the party both at state and local government levels.

The Barrister turned politician added that she joined the All Progressive Congress with aim of contributing her best quota to the development of the party and her community.

She noted that to ensure dividend of good governance reach her people, there’s need to join mainstream politics at the centre, saying she has positioned herself for strategic engagement that will bring more development to her community.

Barr Lawani enjoined his teeming supporters and followers to always think of what would bring development to the party and their respective communities.

Some of the decampees from PDP and other parties include Barr Olumuyiwa Adu, Oluseyi Kolawole, Bode Obanla, Hon. Ranti Fakinlede, Elder Smart Oloye, Mr Femi Omolafe, Babatunde Falae, Felix Ogundairo, Hon. Sunday Afolabi among others.
