ALLEGATION OF VIOLENT CONDUCT BY OUTGOING OGSA STUDENTS AFTER FINAL EXAM, SCHOOL MANAGEMENT CLEARS AIR

The Management of the Oyemekun Grammar School Akure (OGSA) has reacted to the allegations of violent conduct by the outgoing SSS 3 students, saying OGSA Boys is known to be highly disciplined and of high moral standard.

In a statement issued by the management and signed by the schoool Principal, Akoni Adeniyi Oluyide stated that,the Facebook video on the page of one Mr.Adekunle Adewumi aka Keke Awada is not a true reflection of what Oyemekun Boys stand for.

Akoni Oluyide noted that, in anticipation of the usual “sign-out” excesses that accompany end-of-exam celebrations in many schools, the school management has taken proactive steps before, during, and after the WASSCE exam:

Our attention has been drawn to a Facebook podcast by renowned broadcast journalist, *Adekunle Adewumi keke Awada*, alleging “violent conduct” by our outgoing SSS3 students after their last paper.

First, we thank *Mr.Adekunle Adewumi aka Keke Awada* for his commitment to holding institutions accountable. The media is the watchdog of society, and we welcome responsible journalism.

*However, the facts on ground present a different picture:*

As a management team committed to discipline, safety, and the image of Oyemekun Grammar School, we anticipated the usual “sign-out” excesses that accompany end-of-exam celebrations in many schools. In line with our proactive culture, we took deliberate steps *before, during, and after* the WASSCE exam:

*1. BEFORE EXAMS:*
We held extensive sensitization sessions with the SSS3 class, parents, and PTA. Students were counseled on civil conduct, the legal implications of vandalism, and the Oyemekun standard of “exit with honor.” A written undertaking of good conduct was signed by all graduating students and their parents.

*2. DURING EXAMS:*
In partnership with the *Nigeria Police Force, Fanibi and Okuta Elerinla Divisions, Akure*, and the school’s security unit, we deployed plainclothes and uniformed officers around the school premises daily throughout the exam period. This was to deter loitering, unauthorized gatherings, and any form of unruly behavior. The police presence was intentional and visible.

*3. AFTER THE LAST PAPER:*
On the day of the last paper, our management team, teachers, prefects, and the assigned police officers were on ground from 8:00AM till the last student exited the premises at. Students were ushered out in an orderly manner. No destruction of school property, no assault, and no public disturbance was recorded within our premises.

We acknowledge that isolated incidents involving youths sometimes occur outside school gates most importantly *Kosehunti* axis that you mentioned in your video. *It is worthy of note that the involvement of police you mentioned was our efforts* Specifically, the Police officers and some members of staff of our school were conveyed by the 18-Seater Bus of the school to the scene and arrests were made.

Oyemekun Grammar School, founded in 1953, has a 73-year legacy of producing disciplined leaders, professionals, and nation-builders. We will not allow the reputation of thousands of well-behaved alumni and current students to be tarnished by incidence.

2. We appreciate the Nigeria Police Force for their timely support before, during, and after the exams.
