One of the top aspirants of the People’s Democratic Party, Barrister Muyiwa Adu has picked his Nomination Form at the Party Secretariat in Akure, Ondo State to contest the forthcoming Bye Election into the House of Representatives slated for February 26.
Adu is contesting the vacant seat of Akure South and Akure North Federal Constituency at the lower chamber following the death of the Hon Omolafe Adedayo, a Member of the People’s Democratic Party.
The Akure born politician came to the party secretariat in company of leaders, stakeholders from the two local governments among others party’s faithful.
Speaking, the state Party Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Adams assured the aspirant of a level playing ground for all contesters, saying the leadership of the party will ensure the primary is credible, free and fair.
The Chairman disclosed that, the party has no prefer candidate or favorite among the aspirants, noting that the best among them will emerge through a transparent primary to be conducted by the party.
“As a party, we don’t have a favourite candidate, but whoever emerges at the end of the primary becomes the party candidate. PDP is strong in Akure and the only thing that can make us loss this election is internal wrangling among us; to prevent this from happening, the party will ensure credible primary is conducted”.
He enjoined all aspirants to support whoever emerges at the end of the primary. ” To prevent crisis, the party is adopting the existing Ad-Hoc delegates list for the primary”.
Feeding questions from Newsmen, Barrister Adu said his aspirations to represent the people of Akure South and North Federal Constituency was borne out of calls from the people, asking him to replace the late lawmaker who was a great representative of the people.
Adu stated that his constituent deserves a good law that will bring transformation, development and dividend of democracy to their door steps. “I am joining them at the lower chamber to make good laws that will place Akure Federal Constituency in vantage position among others constituencies in the country”.
The House of Representatives hopeful noted that his political strength and structure are the people that asked him to run for the office, saying that the people will determine the best candidate with their votes at the appropriate time.
He charged all the aspirants to shun campaign of calumny, saying PDP is one family in spite of their individual aspirations.
Meanwhile, the aspirant paid N2.5m to collect both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
