Akure & District Society: Wale Atibioke Adeoye Becomes ICAN 29th Chairman

Mr Wale Atibioke Adeoye FCA has been inaugurated as the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) 29th Chairman of the Akure and District Society, Ondo State.

The inauguration was held at the ICAN House Akure where members, government officials, families and friends were all in attendance to grace the history making investiture of the Akoko born Chartered Accountant.

In attendance were the Honorable Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan who delivered investiture lecture tagged” Roles of Professional Accountants in Emerging Economies”.

Other invited guests includes Hon Fatai Olotu, Commissioner for Water Resources, NLC Chairman, Comrade Victor Oladele Amoko, Permanent Secretaries, Hon Femi Idris, Chairman, OLGSC, Traditional Rulers, former President of the Association among others.

Both the National President of the Association and Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinteriwa were ably represented at the occasion.

In his valedictory speech, the immediate past chairman, Mr Omomofe Akintunde thanked all the members for a successful administration saying the little he was able to achieve was due to the cooperation of the members of the noble association.

He highlighted some of his achievements to include some project executed at the ICAN HOUSE, membership drive and development, engagement of stakeholders among others stand his one year tenure out.

The Guest Lecturer, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan charged Accountant to take their rightful position in the country’s economy saying failure of accounting profession is a failure of any nation.

Chief Adeniyi who represented the Commissioner for Finance congratulated the new executives that will pilot the affairs of the association for the next one year, charging them to be alive to the responsibility of their various offices.

Speaking with the PATH, the newly sworn in Chairman, Mr Wale Atibioke Adeoye thanked the past and immediate Chairmen of the body for their services at one time and another, saying their respective contributions is making ICAN stronger in Ondo State.

Atibioke said his administration will focus on ICAN Building Development, continue with the master plan to develop the building to reflect the qualities of modern day houses with all the necessary facilities put in place.

The Chairman added that membership development and training will continue for members to further make them more valuable in their chosen profession while saying students membership and Accounting Education will be priotised.

He also promised to priotise the welfare of members and ensure cordial relationship with other districts of the Institute and professional bodies.

The Oath of Office was administered on the chairman and other executives by the 59th president of ICAN ably represented at the investiture.

Other highlight of the programme was the presentation of award to outstanding individuals who have carved a niche for themselves among who were Hon Femi Idris, Chairman of the Ondo State Local Government Service Commission and others.
