Alhaji Amidu Takuro, the commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in Ondo State has reiterated his commitment and determination to transform the Ministry better than he met, saying Media will play a major role in sensitizing the public of the activities of the Ministry.
The Commissioner disclosed this while chatting with the PATH at the closing/graduation ceremony of BEMORE GIRLS at the Federal University of Technology,Akure.
He said the Ministry will partner the media in its Transformational Agenda tailored towards changing the orientation of the public and also sensitizing them of the new innovation and extant laws of physical planning and urban development of Ondo State.
“We are going to do more of orientation and organize programmes where stakeholders in physical planning and urban development will be enlightened, partnering the Media to help publicize our activities through different platforms; what we are after is result and away from old orders that are not yielding desirable results”.
While thanking Arakunrin for his appointment as the commissioner for Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, he promised not to disappoint the confidence repose in him, saying the governor must have seen one sterling quality in him before posting him to the Ministry.
He added that physical planning is the bedrock of any development and answer to good governance, saying the REDEEMED AGENDA of the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led administration lies in the Physical Planning and Urban Development of the state.
“I am determined to put every resource into use and tap new innovation that will better position the Ministry. It is only laziness and lack of ideas that will make people describe Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as a dry land. We are determined to change the narrative and turn the Ministry to one of the income generating Ministries in Ondo State”.
He noted that, the Ministry is very sensitive when it comes to planning of infrastructure, Urban Development and other social facilities in both the cities and towns in the state.
“My leadership will ensure people of the state enjoy better services and full compliance with our laws; there’s possibility of applying sanctions where necessary for violators of the laid down procedure and regulations of the Ministry, because there is no ignorance in law; that is more reason we are going to employ the services of the media to sensitize the public on do and don’ts of the Ministry”.
Alhaji Takuro promised to set standard for sustainable physical planning in order to safe guard the growth of towns and cities in Ondo State.
He stressed that the State Government will ensure strict compliance with the proper town planning of the state.
His words: “The Akeredolu’s administration is ready to invest in the preparation and physical development plans for town and villages in the state, urban-rural drift will definitely reduce with this arrangement”.
The Commissioner urged residents of the state to cooperate with the Ministry, saying the Ministry is ready for total commitment and full implementation of laws of physical planning in Ondo State.
