Aiyedatiwa approves welfare packages for Amotekun as Corps deploys 650 operatives for Eid security

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved a series of welfare packages for officers and men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, as the corps deployed 650 operatives across the state to strengthen security ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this while parading suspected criminals at the Amotekun headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure.

Adeleye said the welfare initiatives approved by the governor include the enlistment of Amotekun personnel into the Ondo State Contributory Health Scheme, which will enable operatives and their families to access quality healthcare services.

He further revealed that the governor had approved the issuance of Warrants of Service Enlistment to officers and personnel of the agency pending the completion of the necessary legal framework.

According to him, operatives would also be enrolled in the Contributory Pension Scheme and benefit from the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), in addition to the existing life insurance policy already in place for personnel.

The commander described the initiatives as part of efforts to boost morale and recognise the contributions of the corps to the maintenance of security across Ondo State.

Speaking on security arrangements for the Sallah celebration, Adeleye said the corps had deployed 650 operatives across the state to ensure adequate security before, during and after the festivities.

He explained that special patrol operations had been activated in strategic locations, while border surveillance had been strengthened to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the festive period.

Adeleye added that Amotekun Rangers operating in forest areas had intensified operations to prevent attacks by bandits and other criminal elements during the holiday.

He noted that operatives had also been directed to maintain 24-hour patrols around schools, healthcare facilities, churches and border communities across the state.

The commander appealed to residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious activities within their communities.

He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that security across the state remains uncompromised during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
