A former presidential aspirant and Chief Medical Director of the Sckye Hospitals Limited Akure, Dr Thomas Wilson-Ikubese JP has again been recognized by Ondo State Government, bagging Volunteer Ambassador Award.
The Volunteer Ambassador Award was conferred on him at the maiden edition of the Ondo State Volunteer Summit held on Friday at The Dome, Akure to commemorate the 2025 International Volunteer Day.
Chatting with the PATH, TWI expressed deep appreciation to the Ondo State Government for acknowledging her years of service and community impact.
” I feel elated and honoured that Ondo State Government recognized the little assistance being rendered by our medical facility- Sckye Hospitals for the past 20 years. Within the space of days, I received double honours from the government, this is a motivation and challenge to do more”.
While dedicated the award to every citizen of Ondo State, he urged every Nigerian to cultivate the habit of volunteerism and giving, no matter how little.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Volunteer Service, Hon. Adeolu Iwakun, described the summit as a landmark achievement in the state’s history of civic engagement.
He applauded Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for institutionalising volunteerism through the creation of the Volunteer Service Office.
Representing the Governor, the Special Adviser on Environment, Dr Tunji Rhema Moyero, reiterated the administration’s commitment to citizen participation, youth engagement and community development.
He commended the awardees, noting that: “In Ondo State, the progress and recognition of volunteers will remain a standard others can follow”.
Several dignitaries, including Pastor Evelyn Joshua of SCOAN, the Chief Press Secretary to Mr. Govenor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyam among others were also honoured.
