The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ondo State, Mr. Femi Agagu has laid the foundation of a new state-of-the-art-storey building at the Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Akure in commeration of the first Principal of the citadel of learning.
The 12 Classrooms first Storey Building was a legacy project named after Miss Rosa Jane Pelly, the first Principal of the Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School. The foundation laying took place at the school compound on Monday 27th March, 2023.
Speaking, the Commissioner commended the principal, management and old students of the school for the state of art project, saying Fiwasaye by all standards is the number one school in the state.
He further saluted the courage and vision of the principal who has been outstanding since she was appointed the Head teachers of the school.
In her address, the Principal of the school, Ambassador Mrs. Omobola Ojoge stated that her vision of providing the best facility for conducive learning environment and making the Will of the first principal of the school a reality led to the building of the first Storey Classrooms in the school.
She appreciated the family of Miss. Jane Pelly for sending the money the Late Principal allocated to the school in her Will, saying the management of the school will make judicious use of the money for the Legacy Project.
In addition, she appreciated Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu for his approval to build this edu-structral resource project.
She also thanked FOGA, SBMC and PTA for being supportive always and keying into her vision of building a legacy project for Miss Pelly, adding each Kobo spend on the project will be properly accounted for.
Mrs. Kosemani Kolawole, the former Ondo State Head of Service who read the only Bible reading eulogized late Jane Pelly, saying she would have been married to a farmer if not for the encouragement of Miss Pelly who facilitate her secondary education.
The National President of Fiwasaye Old Girls Association, FOGA, Chief Mrs. Funwa Agbi extolled Miss. Jane Pelly of blessed memory for her discipline.
She therefore encouraged students of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School to always remember to be good ambassadors of the great School.
Meanwhile, in his sermon, Ven Nelson Fadoju who doubles as the Chairman of SBMC charged guests and students at the occasion to build their foundation in God, saying Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School is leading because its foundation was built on God.
Some of the dignitaries that graced the event are Commissioner of Education, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Zonal Education Officer, PTA Chairman, Ven Nelson Fadoju/SBMC, FOGA, Mr T.O Ojoge, Past and Present National President of FOGA among others.
