Agitators of Restructuring Not Sincere, Calls for Parliamentary System- Prof Amoo

A University Don, Prof Isiaka Amoo has called for parliamentary system of government in Nigeria, saying agitators of restructuring are not sincere considering the manner they are going about it.
The Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Federal University of Technology, Akure made this disclosure while chatting with the PATH during the 5th anniversary of the Precision online Newspaper in Akure.
Prof Amoo said some group of people in Nigeria were the leading voices of restructuring while in the opposition but have today developed cold feet since the assumption of their party in government.
“Those agitating for restructuring are not sincere; what transpired in Edo State in the build up to the last governorship election in the state has shown that our political elites are not sincere”.
He said for restructuring to be effective, it should start from individual household and the religion leaders have a vital roles to play.
” Restructuring can’t come from the top, it has to begin from individual household. Let us organize and begin restructuring at our various homes. Let the religious leaders start to call for restructuring rather than preaching prosperity always”.
The FUTA Professor said the only alternative to restructuring is a return to the parliamentary system of government, noting that, the current presidential system adopted by the country is not yielding good result.
He blamed the military incursion which distraughted the parliamentary system that served the country better at that time.
Meanwhile, the anniversary lecture was delivered by Prof Femi Mimiko titled: “Tottering on the brink of collapse: Is Restructuring the way out of Nigeria’s extant Crises”.
The former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko stressed the scientific need for restructuring saying it was quite unfortunate that life has lost its value in Nigeria as some parts are now out of the hands of government officials.
