Praise & Worship: Why I Love To Dance To Drums From My Place- Rev’D Suulola

Reverend Akintayo Olufunmilade Suulola, a Prince of Oyo Kingdom, the General Overseer of the Scripture Group Mission (SGM) and President of Akintayo Suulola World Outreaches has disclosed that he is proud of his Yoruba Culture saying it is not a sin to praise God in one’s culture.

The General Overseer is one Man of God that loves worshipping and praising God in a traditional way of dancing to talking drums, Bata among other traditional drums, giving reasons why he loves to dance to drums from his place of origin.

Noted for his traditional attires and rich Yoruba language while preaching, Rev’D Suulola begins the 25th Annual Convention and 33rd Anniversary of his church by inviting professionals Talking Drum guru to Akure all the way from Oyo State to celebrate God faithfulness in the life of his ministry, saying Bible supported praising God with Drums.

His words: “Our 25th Annual Convention and 33rd Anniversary is a season of celebration. One thing that excite the God most is Praise and Thanksgiving and what I love most is to dance to drums from my place in praising God. Even the Bible says we should praise HIM with drums”.

He frowned at some Men of God that chastise praising God in traditional way saying it is a limit of knowledge on the part of such Pastors.

“The Priestly Garment we put on as Pastor was cultured from Rome and not originally a Christian attires. God is relating to people according to their culture and we shouldn’t look down on anybody culture because no culture is superior to another”.

Speaking on the theme of the Convention, “Divine Visitation”, Rev’D Suulola said God use what you are use to, to visit you. “We have used drums in many places, praising God and He manifested Himself. There’s no sin in that because it is not against the ethics of the Bible”.

He said Culture and Religion are variables inseparable, saying the only thing God detest is idolatry. ” Provided your culture is not idolatry, you can use it to Honour and praise God”.

The General Overseer added that the Convention Theme was given to him late last year that 2024 shall be our season of Divine Visitation.

He thanked God for His manifestation throughout the five days Programme, noting that it was a season of testimonies, miracles, healings as God walked in this year convention.

While believing God for multiple blessings in the next year edition, he released the theme of next year Convention as “Covenant Increase” saying God is going to bless His children abundantly next year.

Meanwhile, he enjoined Nigerians to look unto God at this period of economic hardship saying it is only God that can cushion the effect of the current challenges facing the country and not mortal.

Part of the activities line up for the Convention and Anniversary thanksgiving were the presentation of Awards to some individuals who have contributed immensely to the work of God.

Some of the awardees include Hon Aribo Oyato, Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry, Oba David Olajide Okunato, Iresi of Osi Kingdom among others.
