Ondo ASUSS Chairman Bags Academic Trailblazer Award

In recognition of his laudable feats since assumption of office as the State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in Ondo State, Comrade Balogun Tajudeen Olatunji was Conferred with Academic Trailblazer of the Year Award.

Comrade Balogun stands out among his contemporaries in regard to unionism in Ondo State, conferring award of Trailblazer on him is well deserving.

The Award presentation was held at the Sunbeth Hotel, Akure during the 9th Anniversary of the Chronicle Magazine.

In his welcome address, the Publisher of the Chronicle Magazine, Olaseeni Oyesusi Congratulated the lucky awardees, saying their outstanding performances in service to humanity and great exploit in their field of endeavours earned them the prestigious awards.

Speaking with the PATH, ASUSS Chairman thanked God and the Media Organization for beaming its search light on his activities as a unionist.

He said he agreed to receive the award because of the integrity and qualitative information dissemination that Chronicle Magazine stands for among the numerous newspapers in Ondo State.

“Why I turned down many awards, I couldn’t do same to Chronicle Magazine because of the good name and accurate information dissemination of the news tabloid”.

While charging community newspapers in Ondo state to be up and doing, he commended them for their activeness in publishing business despite the hard economy reality that is collapsing businesses in the country.

Comrade Balogun added that the role of community newspaper in reporting crime can’t be downplayed, asking them to continue to report accurate news without creating unnecessary tension in the society.

“This is era of fake news in Nigeria Media space. An average Nigerian is today a Journalist. We don’t know who is who when it comes to news reporting.

Community Publishers in Ondo State must not join the propellers of fake news in our society. Professionalism should be their watchword.

Meanwhile, he dedicated the Award to Almighty God, ASUSS Members and Tutors in all the Secondary Schools in Ondo State.
