It is with great pleasure that I congratulate His Excellency Hon. Agboola Ajayi, former Deputy Governor of our dearest Sunshine State, on his emergence as the Gubernatorial Candidate of our party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the November 16th governorship election in Ondo State. His Excellency sir, your victory is an indication of your popularity across the length and breadth of the State. Our delegates had spoken for all of us through their votes.
I must specially commend the other aspirants who made the contest competitive, interesting and worthwhile. These are eminent party leaders who, through their hard-earned resources, have contributed immensely to the continuous survival of our party. You are all winners of yesterday’s exercise and I am proud of your maturity. You all went round the 18 local government areas of the State talking to party leaders and members on the need to return our great party to the winning way and restoring the lost fortune of our State. Be rest assured that you will always be respected as leaders of our party.
Dear leaders, it is time to come together for the victory of our party in the November 16 governorship election. Our candidate cannot succeed without your unalloyed support. We have no other party to call our own. As the deer pants for the water, let us all pant for the success of our party in Ondo State so that we can all rescue our people from the current anti-masses policies of the APC government since 2016.
I like to appeal to our candidate, His Excellency Hon. Agboola Ajayi, to immediately reach out to his brothers who made the contest beautiful for him. Sir, we are all proud of yesterday’s exercise because of your brothers’ faith in the party. If it was a one man contest, the ruling APC would have laughed at us. But the feedback from the streets is positive and I am aware the ruling party was forced to a reconciliatory meeting yesterday. We need to come together, work together and win together and this can only be possible if you lead the process.
I want to appreciate the seven-man Primary election committee led by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for conducting a free, fair, credible and transparent election. We couldn’t have had a better primary election. Our party needs people of unquestionable characters like you to take the front stage and I hope you would continue to make yourselves available for future national assignments. I wish to mention that His Excellency Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has a track record of success. He chaired the primary election committee of our party in Osun State that produced the incumbent Governor Sen. Adeleke. I know for sure that Ondo State will also coast to the victory.
Lastly, I want to congratulate every member of our party in Ondo State. Let us come together, work together and win together.
