NAPPS Supports Govt Returns of Schools to Mission

The State President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ondo State Chapter, Chief Derick Ijidakinro has thrown his weight behind the approval given by the state governor for returning mission schools back to the original owners.

He stated this in a chat with the PATH correspondent in Akure.

He said the decision to return school to mission by the government is a welcome development, adding that schools under the care of private will be well managed when compare to the public ones’.

” There must be reasons for the return either from the government or pressure from the mission. There no big deal in returning the schools back to the original owners; we all know that private school is well managed than public ones”.

Speaking on the resumption, Chief Derick said private schools in Ondo State are complying with the Covid-19 protocols, saying the Task Force set up by the association is working assiduously to ensure strict compliance with the protocols.

The President noted that adherence to Covid -19 protocols has prevented the spread of the virus among students in state. ” During the first wave of the pandemic, we fumigate our schools and it has become a normal routine for all private schools in the state to ensure both the teachers and students wear face mask and wash their hands regularly”.

He felt elated that despite the index cases of the virus, no casualty nor outbreak was recorded in any of the schools, attributing it to the strict compliance with the Covid-19 protocols.

He applauded the bold step taken by the governor in issuing vacation order to the herders in the state forest reserves.

He added that the herders should be registered for proper identification and documentation which we allow the government to monitor their activities in the state.

Chief Derick charged the proprietors of the school to apply wisdom before sending their students and pupils out of the school for fees, saying they need to be security conscious.
