2027 Poll: Hon Morenike Witherspoon Picks Nomination Form, Calls For Transparent Primaries
Hon (Prophetess) Atinuke Morenike Witherspoon, has officially picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the Owo Constituency 2 House of Assembly ahead of the party’s primary election.
Rennykay as popularly called is the current Lawmaker representing Owo Constituency 2 at the State House of Assembly, working toward her second term bid.
She obtained the forms at the APC State Secretariat in Akure on Saturday, signaling his formal entry into the 2027 House of Assembly race. She was accompanied by party leaders, youth groups, and supporters from the Constituent.
Speaking shortly after picking the forms, Rennykay said the move was in response to persistent calls from the Constituency who believe there is need for continuity of her good work and outstanding representation.
She earlier said that, the State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa allegedly purchased all the forms for his consensus candidate as against the wishes of the aspirants and the people of the Constituency.
According to her, ” Having learnt that Mr Governor has purchased the available forms for his consensus candidate, which is against the wishes of mamy aspirants but when information reached me that, the National Secretariat of the Party has sent forms to the state Secretaruat,, I was left with no option than to listening to the call of my people to pick the form”.
She frowned at the consensus arrangement of the governor where a popular aspirant is being pencilled down as consensus candidate as against the wishes of other contenders and leaders of the party
Rennykay called for free, fair and credible primaries, saying if the governor and the leadership of the party allow transparent primaries, she stands a better chance of picking a return ticket for the election.
She added that, her performances through legislation, empowerment, oversight functions among others position her as the best candidate to beat in both the primary and general election.
“With the support of our leaders and the grace of God, I am ready for the primary and the general election.”
He commended the leadership of the party at the national for selling forms to all aspirants, while also urging them to properly monitor the primary without take sides.
We are all party men and women; the unity and progress of the party must be prioritized before, during and after the primaries.
” Popularly candidates should be allowed to emerge. I say no to imposition and the wishes of the people must prevail as we are looking forward to both the primary and general elections.
” My work will speak for me and if the governor allows transparent primaries, I am double sure of picking the tocket and win the general election for our great party, APC by God grace”.
