Barr. Felix Kolawole Alonge, the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Social Investment Programme has congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal saying victory further epitomized the will of the people of Ondo State.
The tribunal on Wednesday 4th June, 2025, dismissed the petitions filed by some parties, upheld the election of Governor Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming his victory in the November 16, 2024 governorship poll.
The three-member tribunal, chaired by Justice Benson Ogbu, delivered a unanimous judgment, dismissing the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, and other political parties.
.
Speaking to the PATH, Alonge expressed gratitude to God and the people of Ondo State for standing with the governor throughout the litigation period adding that the tribunal’s judgment has reaffirmed the will of the people.
He described the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal judgement as a welcome development saying the people of Ondo State have spoken with their votes contrary to the frivolous petitions filed by the oppositions.
Alonge called on the opposition, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Agboola Ajayi, and other governorship candidates, to accept the verdict in good faith and join hands with Aiyedatiwa in the collective task of moving Ondo State forward.
He further added that, the victory of the governor at the Tribunal didn’t come as a surprise because all indices have shown that Governor Aiyedatiwa and APC won the election, noting that allegations of widespread irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act by the opposition were mere speculations which can’t be proven.
The SSA enjoined the governor to continue with the good work he has started as the duely elected Executive Governor of Ondo State, saying his achievements within 100 days in office is a good omen for better days ahead.
