The leadership of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Ondo State Chapter has pleaded with the governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa to increase the three slots allocated for Tutor-General to nine, commending the governor efforts in the development of education in Ondo State.
Speaking with the State President of the Conference, Dr Fadekemi Jogbodo on the state of education in Ondo State, the multiple award winning Principal passionately asked for increment in the slot to accommodate more qualified teachers.
She stated that, the teachers in the state previously enjoyed nine slots which was divided into the nine Federal Constituencies before it was later reversed to three.
Jogbodo called on the teacher’s loving governor to reconsider the earlier slot of nine, which will not only serve as motivation to teachers but further give them sense of belonging in the state.
The President lauded the governor for prioritizing education development in the state, assuring him of ANCOPSS support to his administration at all time.
Speaking on the unruly behavior of some students during the unofficial sign out in the state, she pleaded with the government to temper justice with mercy with some school principals whose students were fingered in the act.
She added that, some pictures being circulating on social media that pictured immorality are not students from Ondo State, saying no public school student is allow to plait hair as the picture portrayed.
Jogbodo appealed to the state government to take drastic steps by setting up Task Force that would be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and sanctioning any erring students found roaming about during school hours.
She charged the parents on proper monitoring of their wards, saying charity begins at home.
‘ I commend the principals of school in Ondo State, they are trying their best but unfortunately whenever issue like this crop up, blames are shifted on them as if they are not doing enough”.
“Principals can’t be everywhere but I believe if parents give their children proper home training, the school authority would have little or no work to do but if otherwise, it is difficult to control and monitor these students mostly outside the school premises.
She further cautioned the students against unruly behavior and act that will paint the school authority in bad light.
