Ahead of this Saturday’s bye-election in Ondo South Senatorial District, the well sophisticated Voters of the Senatorial District has a better candidate to queue behind and cast their votes for, a good replacement for Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, now Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and that person is Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile OON
The district had previously been represented by “an egghead” in the person of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and the people could not afford to lower the standard of representation and the ruling party in Ondo State, All Progressive Congress (APC) got this right by settling for Prof Faduyile.
At the grand finale of rally at Okitupupa, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described Faduyile as the best candidate to represent the district in the Senate, considering his vast experience in every position he has served both in the state and national levels.
Prof. Faduyile possesses the experience and capacity required to effectively champion the interests of the people of Ondo South in the upper legislative chamber.
He is a candidate whose credentials and popularity make him easy to market among the electorate, when compared to other candidates in the race.
If voted for, he stands a better chance of delivering people-centred legislative agenda that prioritises the needs and aspirations of his constituents.
Ondo South Senatorial District needs quality representation, meaningful developmental projects, policies that improve livelihoods, and the person who can connect and make it happen is Prof Francis Adedayo Faduyile.
Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON is a Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, Lagos and an Honorary Consultant in the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. He was the former Head, Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine (2016 – 2018), former Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos Chapter (2012 – 2014), and a Past National President, Nigerian Medical Association (2018 – 2020). He is also the former President Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos (2006 – 2007). He was the Special Adviser on Health to the Governor of Ondo State (2022 – 2024) was Chairman, Governing Council of Federal College of Education. Kontagora, Niger State and Chairman, Committee of Chairmen of Governing Councils of Federal Colleges of Education and currently Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal University of Education, Kontagora.
He obtained his undergraduate degree in Medicine and Surgery (1996) from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria, Master of Business Administration degree (2005) from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, and Master of Science degree in Cell Biology and Genetics (2008) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Medical College of Pathologist (2007), National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria; Fellow of the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (2016) from the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Health Sciences. He also bagged Diploma in Cancer Pathology (2008) from the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Prevention, USA; Diploma in Forensic Human Identification (2015) from the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine of Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom; and Doctor of Medicine in Pathology (2021) from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
Francis has academic career spanning two decades and over the years he has published extensively in the pathology, forensic medicine, cytopathology and cancer prevention. He has made over 80 scholarly contributions, including nearly 70 peer-reviewed research. He received Post-Fellowship Training at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, Sydney (2007), and attended International Workshop on Fine Needle Aspiration and Cytology, Kampala, Uganda (2007), International Workshop on Cytopathology, Ibadan, Nigeria (2006), and International Workshop on Immunohistochemistry, Abuja, Nigeria (2004). He had attended numerous courses on Biosafety and Biosecurity as well as the West Africa Regional Trainer Development Biorisk Management Training Courses.
He belongs to many academic societies and professional bodies both in Nigeria and internationally, including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), College of Nigerian Pathologists (CNP), Medical and Dental Consultant Association (MDCAN), The Ikale Young Elite Club, West African International Association of Pathologists (WADIAP), African Society of Forensic Medicine (ASFM), African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), to mention a few. His career has taken him around the globe where he attended several conferences, workshops and trainings.
Professor Faduyile was very active as the President of Nigerian Medical Association during COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria evident by active press releases, mobilization of medical practitioners in Nigeria to aggressively contain the spread of the disease. His cooperation and collaboration with the Nigerian Government as well as other sister associations including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) led to the great successes recorded during this global health problem in Nigeria. He is a recipient of numerous local and international awards including Ondo State Man of the year (2018), Presidential Award by PSN (2019), Award of Excellence by NANNM (2019), Distinguished Service Award by Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (2018) and National Merit award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by the President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR in 2022.
