Babatunde Emmanuel Faro, the People’s Democratic Party candidate for the House of Representatives, Akure South/North Federal Constituency, has paid glowing tribute to elder statesman and leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, on the occasion of his 100th birthday anniversary, describing him as “an icon of conscience, courage, and character”.
In a heartfelt centennial message made available to journalists, Faro said the life of Pa Fasoranti remains a shining example of integrity, patriotism, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to justice and democratic ideals in Nigeria.
According to him, the Afenifere leader has not only witnessed history but has played a major role in shaping the nation through wisdom, sacrifice, and steadfast leadership.
“Your century-long journey on earth stands as a luminous testament to a life devoted to service, integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, and good governance,” Faro stated.
He noted that through decades of national political and social evolution, Pa Fasoranti has remained a voice of reason, a defender of democratic principles, and a custodian of Yoruba cultural values.
Faro further described the nonagenarian as a symbol of the Yoruba ethos of Omoluabi — embodying honor, humility, discipline, and service to humanity.
“At 100, your legacy transcends generations. You have inspired leaders, nurtured patriots, and given hope to millions who believe in a Nigeria anchored on fairness and unity,” he added.
Quoting a popular Yoruba proverb, Faro said, “Agba kii wa loja, ki ori omo tuntun wo,” meaning an elder cannot be present and allow society to lose moral direction, stressing that Pa Fasoranti has consistently served as a guiding force for both the Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large.
He prayed for continued strength, peace, and sound health for the elder statesman, while wishing him many more years of impactful living.
“Happy 100th Birthday, Baba Fasoranti. Your life is a blessing. Your legacy is eternal,” Faro declared.
Pa Fasoranti is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost nationalist voices and a respected advocate for justice, equity, and good governance.
