WHY WUNMI ISAAC SHOULD BE LEFT TO DO HER JOB

04 January, 2025

My poser is, is it an offense for a woman to be appointed into sensitive position in our dear Sunshine State? I can’t but ask this because the kind of bashing from left and right since Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa appointed Mrs Omowunmi Isaac as Commissioner of Finance call for questioning.

Different narratives from different quarters as regard the choice of the Owo born financial expert as the head of the Ministry of Finance in the state. Yes, she breaks the jinx of becoming the first female to be appointed as Commissioner of Finance in Ondo State, rather than giving her the needed support, the fifth columnist are head bent in dragging her good name in the mud.

Before now, I don’t want to speak on this bashing but the recent dragging by some faceless group calling her different names, I can’t but come to the defense of my kinswoman from Owo Kingdom. I am not just from Owo but a respected community leader from the ancient town. Wunmi Issac happens to be one of our proud daughters and we won’t allow some disgruntled elements to rubbish all the good works she has been doing as the State Finance Commissioner.

I believe Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa didn’t make any mistake in the choice of Wunmi as the Commissioner in the Ministry of Finance. Ever since her appointment, she has not be found wanting in her line of duties, yet the parasites in government are not comfortable with her management style. To the Owo Born Financial guru, it is not going to be business as usual. It is strictly due diligence and nothing less.

Wunmi believes the resources of the state is not for some set of people but collective resources of everyone that must be enjoyed by all. She is determined to ensure Aiyedatiwa succeed and deliver all his electioneering promises to the good people of Ondo State, thereby prioritizing accountability and transparency. The “Share the money” within and outside the government are not happy with this Iron Lady that will scrutinize every document to the letter before paying out a dime.

The claims of this faceless group is laughable. How could Finance Commissioner dictating to the governor? To these group of people who ‘probably’ are acting someone script, saying Wunmi Issac dictating the governor’s daily activities and decisions in the state is nothing but baseless accusations to set the right thinking public against the government. Can the Finance Commissioner do anything outside the governor’s approval? I don’t believe Mr Governor will ask her to pay the contractors and she will do otherwise.

Ondo State youths are smart people and if they must criticize at all, they will criticize constructively.

As the Finance Commissioner, she is in the better position to advise the governor in regard to the state finance and running of the government. Don’t forget if things go the other way, she will be the first person to be invited by the EFCC, so she has to be extra careful and keep clean record of all dealings of government.

Whoever has axe to grind with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa should do it without involving a woman that is doing her job diligently. Wunmi Issac will not be cowed to the intimidation of these set of people that want her to trade her integrity and good names for a bowl of porridge.

Rather than castigating and result to cheap blackmail, she deserves our accolades and encouragement. She should be allowed to do her job instead of throwing tantrums to her.

We, your kinsmen can only encourage you to do the right thing and prioritize the welfare of the people of Ondo State than doing individual bidding. Era of share the money has gone with Wunmi Issac and it is high time they adjust to it because only Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has the power to hirer and firer.

I urge every son and daughter of Owo Kingdom to rally round her because we won’t allow anybody or group to naked one of our finest in the public under the guise of Politics. Long live Owo, Long Live Ondo State, Long Live Nigeria.
